Turkey 3–2 United States: Kaan Ayhan's 90+8' winner stuns USMNT at SoFi

Turkey produced a dramatic comeback to beat the United States 3–2 in stoppage time at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, despite the Americans having already won Group D before kick-off. The USMNT led twice and appeared set for a draw deep into added time before Kaan Ayhan slid home an 8th-minute stoppage-time winner to complete Turkey's only victory of the tournament.

Auston Trusty gave the US a flying start, heading home from a Sebastian Berhalter corner in just the 3rd minute — the second-fastest goal in USMNT World Cup history. Turkey's Arda Güler, the night's standout performer, levelled around the 10th minute with a swift counterattack finish, and Baris Alper Yılmaz gave Turkey the lead on 31 minutes to send them into the break 2-1 up. Sebastian Berhalter had been booked for serious foul play at 19 minutes.

Pochettino's side came out resurgent in the second half, with Christian Pulisic's introduction prompting a standing ovation from the Los Angeles crowd. Berhalter levelled with a thunderous long-range first-time strike on 49 minutes to make it 2–2. The USMNT controlled extended periods and Turkish goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır made at least one described world-class save to deny Pulisic. Then, in the 8th minute of added time, Arda Güler nutmegged Pulisic and Kaan Ayhan slid home to complete a stunning Turkish victory. Both teams' Group D fates were already sealed — the USA advanced as group winners regardless, while Turkey were already eliminated.
