Belgium 3-2 Senegal (AET): Tielemans' 125th-minute penalty completes stunning comeback

Senegal produced a first-half masterclass to seize control of this Round of 32 clash at Seattle Stadium. Ismaïla Sarr twice hit the post before Habib Diarra converted a rebound from a Sadio Mané cross in the 25th minute, and Sarr himself doubled the lead in the 51st minute with a superbly weighted finish set up by Lamine Camara.

Belgium looked headed for elimination as the match entered its final ten minutes still trailing 2-0, but a double substitution sparked a dramatic turnaround. Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back in the 86th minute with a near-post finish from a Thomas Meunier cross, and Youri Tielemans levelled just three minutes later with a looping header after a defensive error from Senegal's Diaw, sending the match into extra time at 2-2.

The additional 30 minutes could not separate the sides until the very end. In the fifth minute of stoppage time at the close of extra time, a lengthy VAR review adjudged that Senegal's Lamine Camara had fouled Tielemans in the box. Tielemans stepped up himself and confidently converted the penalty in the 125th minute, the latest goal scored in men's World Cup history, to send Belgium through 3-2 and into a Round of 16 meeting with the winner of USA vs Bosnia and Herzegovina.
